Fulton Bank Business Credit Card Review, Plus Top Alternatives

When you have your own business, it’s important to keep your business expenses separate from your personal spending. Doing so can help you stay on top of your finances and manage your business—and personal life—much more efficiently. A business credit card can be the perfect tool to help you do that. It allows you to buy what’s necessary for your venture, build credit, and even earn rewards when you spend your hard-earned money. The right card can also provide extra helpful perks like payroll and management assistance.

Fulton Bank offers a great spread of business credit cards with five available options, each with varying features and rewards. Fulton Bank operates over 250 branches throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia. It would be most convenient for customers who work or live in those areas to open a Fulton Bank business credit card.

Factors to Keep in Mind When Shopping for a Business Credit Card

Your business’s specific needs and goals should determine the kind of business credit card you get. For example, if you’re just starting out and carefully watching your budget, a business credit card without an annual fee can keep your savings in check. It may be a simpler card, too, so you don’t get sidetracked by chasing rewards. Perhaps you are ready to earn rewards on your business spending. A cash back business card comes in handy if you need a little extra in savings, while a card that earns points can get you merchandise at discounted costs.

A business credit card can also help you in the first few months of ownership either through a bonus offer or an introductory APR period. A bonus offer on a rewards card can give your savings a headstart with extra cashback or extra rewards points when you spend a certain amount. A card can also include an introductory period with 0% interest, allowing you to pay off purchases and even balance transfers over time without accruing more debt.

The 5 Fulton Bank Business Credit Cards Reviewed:

Fulton Bank Visa Business Real Rewards Credit Card

  •   1.5 points earned on every $1 spent
  •   0% APR for the first 6 billing cycles on purchases and balance transfers
  •   No annual fee

The Fulton Bank Visa Business Real Rewards Card earns 1.5 points for each dollar you spend on eligible purchases. There is no cap or limit to the amount of points you can earn. Plus, you can start your savings off right with a 2,500 points bonus after you make your first purchase on the card. You can redeem this reward for $25 cash back, merchandise, gift cards, or travel savings. Another perk is the 0% APR throughout the first six billing cycles, which you can use to pay off purchases and balance transfers without accruing interest.

The card doesn’t charge an annual fee so you don’t have to worry about keeping up with a pesky charge each year. And there’s no extra charge for using the bank’s online expense management tool nor to add extra employee cards with individual credit limits. These satellite cards will also earn points that accumulate to add to the main account’s total points.

Top Alternative to Fulton Bank Visa Business Real Rewards Credit Card: Capital One Spark Cash for Business

For a card that earns straight cash back, consider the Capital One Spark Cash for Business credit card. It earns an unlimited 2% cash back on every purchase with no limits. You can also earn a $500 bonus by spending at least $4,500 within the first three months.

This Capital One card does charge a $95 annual fee, however. So you’ll want to watch out for that charge when you’re budgeting.

Fulton Bank Visa Business Rewards Plus Credit Card

  •   3 points for every $1 spent in either cellular phone services, hotels, or airline purchases
  •   1.5 points for every eligible $1 you spend
  •   $99 annual fee, waived for the first year

If you find yourself spending a lot in one of the following categories: cell phone services, hotels, or airline expenses, the Fulton Bank Visa Business Rewards Plus Card will work better for you. Depending on which category you spend the most money in, you can earn more rewards in that category with 3 points per dollar spent. Everything else will still earn 1.5 points per dollar. Again, there’s no cap to the amount of points you can earn. You can also earn 20,000 bonus rewards points by spending at least $2,000 in the first three months.

There is no introductory APR period on this card. There is, however, a $99 annual fee that is waived for the first year.

Top Alternative to Fulton Bank Visa Business Rewards Plus Credit Card: Chase Ink Business Preferred

The Chase Ink Business Preferred card is a good alternative if you want a bigger bonus rewards offer. Spending at least $5,000 within the first three months earns a bonus of 80,000 points. This bonus alone can snag you $1,000 in travel expenses when you redeem through Chase Ultimate Rewards.

Regularly, the card earns 3x points for every dollar you spend on travel, shipping purchases, advertising through search engines and social media sites, and internet/cable/phone services. This maxes out at $150,000 worth of purchases each year. Still, any purchases outside that cap and those categories earn 1x points for each dollar.

Again, just watch out for the $99 annual fee which can take a bite out of your rewards and savings if you’re not careful.

Fulton Bank Visa Business Cash Credit Card

  •   3% cash back on office supply stores purchases and cell phone, landline, internet, and cable TV services
  •   2% cash back on restaurant and gas station purchases
  •   1% cash back on all other eligible purchases

You’ll also get $25 cash back after making your first purchase on the card.

Even better, there is no annual fee on this great cashback card. The card also comes with a 0% introductory APR period of six billing cycles, giving you some room to pay off your purchases and balance transfers.

Top Alternative to Fulton Bank Visa Real Rewards Business Credit Card: SimplyCash Plus Business Credit Card From American Express

Not convinced six billing cycles is enough time to pay off debt without interest? The SimplyCash® Plus Business Credit Card from American Express offers a 0% introductory APR period of 15 months, giving you ample time to catch up on your card payments without getting further into debt.

The card also offers a better cashback system. You can earn 5% cash back on the first $50,000 you spend each year on U.S. wireless phone services and at U.S. office supply stores. You’ll earn 3% cash back on the first $50,000 spent each year on a category of your choice. This includes airfare (when purchased directly from airlines), hotel stays (when booked directly through the hotel), gas stations in the U.S., car rentals from eligible agencies, restaurants in the U.S., advertising in the U.S., shipping in the U.S., and computer hardware, software, and cloud computing purchases made in the U.S. and directly with select providers. This gives you the opportunity to boost your rewards based on your own spending habits. Finally, everything else you buy on this card will earn 1% cash back.

Plus, all these great rewards and perks come at a $0 annual fee.

Which Fulton Bank Business Credit Card Is Right for You?

With five different business credit cards, Fulton Bank ensures that business owners can find a card that works for them. The Visa Business Real Rewards Card works best for those who want to earn rewards on a simple scale and avoid an annual fee. If you don’t mind an annual fee, though, and spend a lot on cellular phone services, hotel, or airline purchases, the boosted rewards of the Visa Business Rewards Plus Card would be a better choice for you. For those who want more immediately tangible rewards in the form of cash back, Fulton Bank’s Visa Business Cash Card earns cash back at different rates depending on certain categories. You stand to earn the most cash back if you already spend heavily at office supply stores and on cell phone, landline, internet, and cable TV services.

Fulton Bank also offers two specialized business credit cards. The Visa Business Platinum Card works best for those who have other credit card balances that need the help of zero added interest for an extended period of time. Finally, if you own a non-profit or work for a municipality, the Visa CommUNITY Card is made just for that with its extended credit lines.
