This Boutique Bakery Is All About Community and Cakes

SALTBOX Presents // Ep. 2 // The Cakery from SALTBOX on Vimeo.

What makes a boutique bakery like The Cakery so unique? “Everything’s fresh, from scratch, and with love,” says baker Pia Marino. And when Pia says “fresh,” she means it—unlike most bakeries, there’s not a freezer to be found anywhere inside The Cakery.

This small business creates gorgeous, custom cakes for its community in Southlake, Texas. It’s run by a close-knit group of passionate bakers, some of whom are family members, and their handcrafted creations include everything from elegant wedding petit fours to jaw-dropping, superhero-inspired cake sculptures. The Cakery loves to collaborate with customers, get to know their story, and work with them to design a delicious, one-of-a-kind masterpiece.

Pia prides herself on The Cakery’s personal connection to every cake—something small businesses do best. She knows that when customers come to them for a wedding cake, it’s about much more than ordering dessert. “You want to remember it forever,” she explains. “And we want to be part of that.”

Those personal connections don’t end once the cake is delivered, either. Pia and her fellow bakers receive glowing messages weeks after delivery from brides, thanking them for their help making their wedding day so special.

Check out the video to watch Pia bake, frost, pipe, and decorate a custom cake from the ground up, and see what makes The Cakery so sweet!
