There are many avenues you can go down to find awesome QuickBooks training, but finding the best of the best can be tough.

Luckily, I recommend options to my clients all the time, and after years of experience, I have found the below resources to be the most consistently reliable when it comes to Quickbooks training.

Following are free training resources offered from a variety of Intuit and non-Intuit related websites and people. The sites catalogued below are not ranked in any order of helpfulness.

The 8 Top Resources for QuickBooks Training

1. The QBO Show

Sure, I am part of this show, but I have to start somewhere, right?

For most of that time, we have run through the tall weeds of QuickBooks Desktop and now solely focus on QuickBooks Online issues. The website has a Tips page, with resources such as our QuickBoooks Matrix leveraged by practitioners daily to navigate high-level questions clients pose across the product line. We’ve also got hundreds of videos focused on everything QuickBooks, which you can find on our YouTube page.

2. QuickBooks Product Videos

On this video site, you’ll find a boat load of content covering the most common and uncommon questions regarding QuickBooks Online and Desktop.

QuickBooks training experts such a Valerie Heckman, Ryan Kelley, and Leah Hartman all bring their voices to the page. You’re literally learning from the best of the best.

Careful though, the site is super utilitarian. It will not be winning any website awards. Bare bones, threadbare, thrifty, but jam-packed with help to start you on your way. Not to mention, the links on the homepage to other relevant resources that come up often in their daily QuickBooks training travels are a bonus.

3. Fundamental Video Tutorials

Really, we should all know how to do the videos on this website.

It is an Intuit site and set up with bite-size lessons that can benefit small businesses. The content does have some quirky spin and sophistication, but these are the basics of QuickBooks—how to create an invoice, how to connect a bank feed, how to run payroll, how to pay a bill, etc.

The videos are short, focused, and a great way for a new-to-QuickBooks small business to get their feet wet in transaction and reporting workflow.

4. Getting QBO Certified

Whether in person or via the web, this site is where you go to register for QuickBooks related training. It’s something for all small business owners (or anyone they have acting internally as a bookkeeper) to consider.

If you get certified and take the course, just think about how well you’ll know the product!

5. QBO Chat

Cathy Iconis’ weekly Thursday group chat meetup is a blast. Intuit and non-Intuit folks, from all walks of life, show up and have a ball.

Sure, they have a weekly highlighted topic on something QuickBooks training-related, but really the experience is a social one. There are the many regulars who set aside this hour every week to check in and offer witty and pertinent takes, as well newcomers seeking answers, encouragement, or just an hour of revelry. It is every Thursday at 3 p.m. EST.

Cathy often will have a guest moderator, sometimes an Intuit employee or even a third party app industry leader. You get to learn something new each week that is impactful and get a chuckle or two. As well, Cathy always puts interesting reads and best practice shares right on her site.

6. QB Power Hour

The name says it all. Every week, accounting leaders Hector Garcia and Michelle Long jump right in to cover QuickBooks related product issues, workflows, integrated apps, and more. This power duo really do deliver and live up to the name.

Better get your seat early though, as they average 600 attendees a week. QB Power Hour is every Thursday at noon EST. And they record all their sessions, so the site is a wealth of deep dives in QuickBooks training.

7. The QuickBooks Vcon

Put on by Joe Woodard and Woodard Events, this a virtual training conference. You get many of the same experts that you’ll find at Intuit’s largest in-person event, QuickBooks Connect. It’s just like being there without having to spend the money to travel.

You can walk “virtual booths” and sit in on sessions with the leaders in QuickBooks training. You can register at the site. The next event is in mid-February.

8. Intuit QBO Community Support

I cannot think of a better resource to bring to your attention to than Intuit’s own community site.

Bookmark it.

You can search for a question and anyone of number of peers, accountants, and Intuit’s own support team will weigh in on an answer. It’s a total DIY experience and usually effective for quick resolution. Many longtime QuickBooks experts lurk throughout the community’s pages, and my guess is your question was answered years ago, already awaiting you.

Many, many, many QuickBooks training resources exist. It is best to pick a few, invest some time, test the waters, and you’ll eventually find the resources that work best for you.
