This Delicious Pie Shop Combines Small Business and Social Good (Video)

A Day at Mission Pie from Seven Summits on Vimeo.

November has arrived—which means pie season is here! And no small business celebrates the art of the dessert quite like San Francisco’s Mission Pie.

Co-owners Krystin Rubin and Karen Heisler are proud of the success of their one-of-a-kind restaurant, but they aren’t just interested in running a profitable business. They’re also committed to bringing “non-profit” values to their for-profit organization—values like community building, ethical ingredient sourcing, and doing social good in their neighborhood.

“We’re very happy to be a for-profit business that’s also weaving positive social impact into all of our business decisions,” says Krystin.

As this video shows, Mission Pie’s sense of community is top-to-bottom. From its staff and customers to the farmers who supply its ingredients, this shop values its people just as much as its pies—a tasty combination for any small business.

So, what’ll it be? Apple blackberry? Pumpkin? Walnut? Rhubarb?
