How This Young Financial Planner Balances Her Business With a Fulfilled Life

Entrepreneur Stories: Brittney Castro from Kofa on Vimeo.

As a female financial planner under 30, Brittney Castro belongs to a demographic that makes up less than 1% of her industry. That hasn’t stopped her from forging her own path to success—one where morning yoga and meditation are as much a part of her workday as her duties as CEO.

Brittney is the founder of Financially Wise Women, a Los Angeles-based financial advisory firm empowering women to take control of their money. Brittney founded the firm after years working in big-time firms, where she was less than impressed by the weak integrity she witnessed.

She tried to play along—“I tried to play this part of corporate, business, financial advisor,” she says. “I just felt like I wasn’t authentic whatsoever.”

Now, she says, “I feel like I’m fully living for the first time.” She’s confident in her work-life balance and makes time for the little things that keep her healthy and happy.

But Brittney’s journey wasn’t always a smooth one.

When her first tax bill slapped her with thousands of dollars in taxes due, she broke down, worried her beloved business was doomed to crumble. Today, she looks back on those early struggles and smiles. “I overcame that challenge, and it continues to get better and better.”

For Brittney, being a business owner is as much about professional success as it is about leading a fulfilled life. “You can use money however you want,” she says. “It’s just a tool to live the life you enjoy most.”
